No matter where you are in your wedding planning process, chances are, you're planning to hire a photographer to document all the love and hard work you put into your big day. I've always been a very sentimental person, so in my opinion, photography should be a top priority. These are the photographs that will decorate your walls and table tops, the photos your parents and grandparents will brag about, and the photos your children will someday cherish.
Know what's important to you
Before contacting photographers, decide what it is that's important to you. What style of photography aligns with you most? Do you value you the ability to invest in quality albums? Canvases and prints? Your photographer will be with you for most of your wedding day, experiencing and capturing it alongside you. Do you like them enough to want to share your day with them? Think about it, write it down, talk about it, whatever works best for you both.
However, the process of booking a photographer isn't always clear. If you're thinking about selecting Caylie Mash Photography, this page should help!
If you love my previous work and want details about pricing, use my contact form and I will receive your message in my inbox. You should expect to hear back from me within 12-72 hours. If you know the following details, please include them! It helps me to get to know you and gives me an initial idea of what your wedding will look and feel like.
- Both of your names
- Your wedding date (or a close estimate)
- Your wedding location
- Your current city and if you plan to move (this affects our pre-wedding meetings)
- What you're most excited about!
- How you heard about Caylie Mash Photography
Meeting in person
Talk with your partner, and if you both decide you want to meet in person, we will pick a date and time that works for all of us. We will chat over coffee, my treat!
The new Co-op Bakery in Bellingham is my favorite place to meet. Quality, yummy ingredients and kind employees; what could be better? If you have a different location in mind, I'm flexible! I want our meeting to be easy and convenient for all of us.
We will talk about your wedding plans, what's important to you about wedding photography, whether or not you'd like to plan an engagement session, and we'll get to know each other a little better. It's so important to see if we're a good fit! These meetings are generally 30-60 minutes.
Reserving your wedding date
Some couples know they want to book right away, and others don't. Let me know where you're at and we'll talk about it. No hard feelings, I promise. :)
If you're anxious to book right away, my contracts are digital to make it quick and easy! I can send a copy of the contract over email when we schedule our coffee meeting, too, so you and your partner have the opportunity to read it ahead of time if you choose to do so. A retainer and signed contract are required to reserve your wedding date. The retainer is deducted from the final cost and is non-refundable. If you want some time to think about it, you are more than welcome to send the retainer by mail.
During the first meeting, most couples don't have all the details finalized quite yet. If your wedding is in Whatcom or Skagit County, we will meet 1-3 weeks before the wedding to go over the final details and make sure we're on the same page. We can also Skype or chat over the phone instead, but a walk-through is preferred if it's possible. It's so fun to visualize together!
Final payment is due one week before the wedding date... and then it's time to relax and enjoy your special day! When it comes to photography, you won't have to worry about a thing.
Send me an email at any time. I'd be more than happy to answer your questions. Happy wedding planning!
